History
Nukmadong (Nyukmadong) was the site of heavy fighting during the 1962 conflict, and the roadside memorial commemorates the soldiers who fell during the withdrawal from Se La.
Culture
The memorial is maintained by the Army and remains an active site of remembrance rather than a tourist attraction.
Photography tips
Photograph respectfully and ask before including serving personnel. Mist through the pines behind the memorial is the natural frame.
Local travel tips
Ten minutes here, read the plaques, and the Sela crossing the next morning means something entirely different.
How to reach
On the Bomdila–Dirang road, roughly 20 minutes from Bomdila.
