A slower 7-night, 8-day Tawang circuit from Guwahati via Nameri/Bhalukpong, Dirang and Bomdila, with three nights in Tawang. Custom quote on request.
Who this itinerary suits
This circuit is built for travellers who would rather add a night than compress the driving: families travelling with older parents or young children, first-time visitors to Northeast India who want a genuine settling-in day, and anyone who has read the Tawang tour package page and the 5 nights / 6 days Tawang tour and decided the shortest version leaves too little room for weather or rest.
It is also a sensible choice for travellers arriving late into Guwahati, since the first night is spent there rather than pushing straight onto the road.
The night allocation
Day 1: arrive Guwahati (night Guwahati). Day 2: Guwahati to the Nameri and Bhalukpong belt, the gateway to the classic Tawang route and a comfortable break in the drive (night Nameri/Bhalukpong). Day 3: Arunachal entry formalities at Bhalukpong, then on via Tipi, Nechiphu and Bomdila to Dirang (night Dirang). Day 4: Dirang to Tawang over Sela. Day 5: the Bumla Pass, PT Tso and Sangetsar-area excursion, only when permitted and accessible on the day (night Tawang). Day 6: Tawang sightseeing, including the monastery and War Memorial (night Tawang). Day 7: Tawang to Bomdila. Day 8: return to Guwahati, with no overnight included on this final day.
That totals one night in Guwahati, one at Nameri/Bhalukpong, one in Dirang, three in Tawang and one in Bomdila — seven nights in all. Any Nameri nature walk, birding or river activity is seasonal and subject to park timings and forest department permissions; nothing is guaranteed. A slower variant with two Dirang nights instead of the Nameri halt can be arranged on request.
Why the high-altitude excursion is never guaranteed
The Bumla Pass, PT Tso and Sangetsar-area excursion on Day 5 depends on permit formalities, Army clearance, weather, road conditions and local-authority instructions on the day itself. This itinerary builds in extra nights precisely so that a closed pass costs you a rearranged morning rather than the whole trip. Foreign nationals are not permitted at Bumla under any circumstances.
Pacing and what depends on your confirmed quotation
The extra Guwahati and Nameri/Bhalukpong nights are there to slow the trip down, not to add sightseeing for its own sake — expect longer mornings, shorter driving stints and more room to rest. Vehicle type, accommodation category, whether a guide or a local vehicle for the high-altitude leg is included, and the exact permits arranged all vary according to the confirmed programme and quotation rather than being fixed in advance.
Travellers comparing durations may also want to read the Tawang tour package overview, the 5 nights / 6 days Tawang tour for the compact version, and the 6 nights / 7 days Tawang tour for the middle option, before deciding which pace suits their dates.
High-altitude travel may not suit every traveller. Allow time to acclimatise and consult a qualified medical professional if you have an existing health condition.
